First and Hopefully LAST surgery!
Well, it is OVER! I am so relieved! Liam-you did a very good job. You woke up on your own at 6 am, which was perfect since we needed to be there at 7 am. You were EXTRA happy this morning (probably because dada was home) and we were on the road at 6:30. Arrived at 7. Mommy filled out paperwork while daddy and you played with all of the toys in the waiting room. They had kitchen sets with fake food so you were in heaven! They took us back to the pre-op area around 7:30. You played with some more toys and got a spray up your nose that they said was similar to vicatin (sp??)...it did help to calm you down, but we did not like seeing you "out of it" like that. A nurse carried you back at 7:55 and mommy and daddy waited in a consultation room. The dr. came in at 8:15 and all was over! He said you did REALLY well and that it was most definitely a good thing your adenoids came out because they were very large and inflamed. We heard you crying and choking/gagging around 8:20. That made mommy cry. It is so hard to see you hurting. You had a lot of drainage. In addition, it can be hard to come out of anesthesia when you are 20 months old--very scary I am sure. We could not wait to hold you. We tried a bunch of different things to calm you down, but you were pretty mad. (your movie, a popsicle, taking your IV out--which you HATED!)..nope you did not go back to yourself until we were home and you were in your pjs having some banana. You ate the whole banana, a fruit cup, cheerios, and drank some juice. Mommy gave you tylenol and you were bouncing off of the walls again in NO TIME! Mommy was SOOO happy to see that! We went for a wagon ride around 11:45 and I looked back to check on you at noon and you were sound asleep! LONG MORNING! So, it is now 1 pm and you are sleeping peacefully in your crib, safe, and hopefully cold and ear infection free for a while! We love you so much and hope this helps you to breathe easier for a long time! xoxo
