She rolled from her back to her belly!

At 3 months and 3 weeks Rowan has now rolled both ways.  She worked very hard all morning and finally at lunch time she did it FIVE times!  (of course while mommy was at the store) but here are some pics of her working hard this morning....
That was take 1, and take 2 ;)  She was trying SO hard!
resting...this pic really captures the chin and pure chub.  ;)
Needless to say she is napping now after getting that healthy sized rump up off of the mat and over!  My sweet little girl.  So proud of you!

The way we roll at bath time

Liam decided to build in the bathroom while I bathed Rowan...except I could not even through to get to the tub..he created a barrier.  Oy vey!  It is Friday!!!  YAY!

Rowan is 4 months (well almost) ;)

Rowan, you are getting SOOOOOO big soooooo fast!  You are now in size 4 diapers after quite a few major blowouts!  ;)  You like to spend your time on your mat (belly or back), in the bjorn (you are definitely a mommy's girl!!!)--would be held by me all day long but you cry when daddy holds you :(  think it is just a stage but your daddy is starting to take it personally ;)...love the walker--you took a few steps the other day, but still can barely reach, or in the bumbo seat watching your big bro.  You love looking in the mirror.  You are giggling a lot now...you think jumping is sooooo funny--when I say it and when Liam does it.  You laugh hysterically when I bounce you on my knee.  You were completely on breast milk up until 3 months..now we give you some formula here and there and you do love it.  You still are not really into any toys, but you do looooove ladybugs--a burp cloth we have and a book.  Here were your stats at your 4 month check up today...
Weight-15 lbs 2.8 oz  80th percentile
Height-26 and 1/4 in.   97th percentile (wow)
Head was in the 55th percentile...
You have a small head and teeny tiny feetsies.  Too cute!
Everything looked good.  Debating starting food in a few weeks or holding off--not sure if I am going to do cereal first or avocado...but I do think you are ready.  You watch me every time I am eating and you NEVER spit up!  Love it.  You do have a little cold right now but your ears were clear--phew!  I am still giving you vitamins daily, but you gag and hate them!!!  But I really think they help make you stronger!
Here are some pics of you after your bath today...
Not a big fan of the jumper yet.  ;)
Liam loves to play with you in your walker..one day he even tried to climb in with you :/
Love staring at this giraffe...I think it is polka dots that you like because this is the burpcloth you love...
Gives me an idea for a first bday party...polka dots!  Or possible butterflies because you also seem to like them.  But I like the idea of polka dots better.
I got you to smile by saying "you are such a pretty girl"...you love hearing that!  And you LOVE to talk!!!  SUCH a girl!

We love you more and more every day although I am wanting to freeze time.  I cannot believe you are already FOUR months!!!  xoxo Pretty Girl!

Weekend recap

Friday ended up being a crazy but fun day.  Kristi and Emmie came over for a fun playdate.  We were supposed to meet at the park but with 2 extra long naps we were running really late so they just came here.  The weather was beautiful so we played in the backyard for a bit and then came in the house and played in the loft--for some reason it is Liam's new fave spot.

While they were here my long lost friend Pat came to visit.  He was here for a job interview and stayed at his uncle's house very close to us.  Emmie and Kristi headed out and he stayed for a few beers while Rick picked up pizza for dinner.  It was great to catch up with him and I hope the job works out!  Kiddos both went to bed by 8 and Rick and I had our pizza and beer night...however, I forgot the pizza part...not smart!  yikes--def. cannot hang in my old age, but it was just so relaxing.  We sat out back until the temp dropped to FREEEEEEZING and listened to music on pandora.  Great memories made!

Saturday came quickly and Liam and I headed to our first of 2 bday parties for 2 of his great friends!  Cole celebrated his 3rd birthday at Pump It Up which is so close to our house and tons of fun.  Liam had a BLAST bouncing, going through the mazes, and down the big slide. So sad I forgot my camera, so I did not get any good pics.  :(  We ate yummy cake and headed home quickly for a nap.  I fed Rowan and then I went out to do some grocery shopping.  Before we knew it, it was time to venture out to our second party at Little Gym for Emmie's 2nd birthday!  Liam again ran and played and did end up having quite a meltdown by the end of the party...I think he was just exhausted and possibly not feeling good because sure enough he woke up on Sunday with a faucet of a nose!  :(  Still, that child is going to be the death of me with his heart wrenching screams and temper tantrums in public....ugh.  It too shall pass, right???  But both parties were tons of fun and we had a great day.

When we got home, we did baths, ordered some italian for delivery (which was delish) and tried to watch Hangover 2 but mama was asleep by 8:45!  ;)

Sunday morning we went to Holy Cross Church at 9:30...it is a new church and school they are building at Legacy and Lebanon, but for now services are in a school cafeteria.  We are thinking about joining here instead just because of the option of the school...but, it IS going to be 8000 a year--yikes!  FOR ONE CHILD!!!  But once I am back to work all money will go to school and saving for college, so it should be okay.  I am also going to put my resume out there and who knows, maybe at could teach at their school!!!  That would be ideal of course.  Rick really liked all of the music and Rowan and Liam did a really good job again.  We even brought the gifts up.  It was really nice.  We shall see because we do LOVE all of the people at St. Francis and I adore my MOMS group there, so not sure what will happen.  Regardless, the new school will not have a 2 year old class next year, so he will def. go to St. Francis for another year.

After church, we took Liam for a haircut.  Then, Rick ran to Kohls to return some picture frames and pick up wings for the big Ravens game.  They lost :( but only my hubby would be a cranky bear all day BEFORE the game because of stress and happy once it was over even though they lost.  He said he was just so nervous---WEIRDO!  While he watched the game, Liam and I played outside for a while...I DO have pics of that--yay!

Finally liked the lake behind our house!
And then some platime inside with sister--she ADORES HIM!!!!
So after some playing we cooked some steaks on the grill and relaxed for the rest of the night.  Rowan was out at 7 and we spent some special time with Liam in his playroom.  Guess what happened?!?!?!  Probably a TOTAL fluke, but he started pulling at his diaper like he has been doing lately when he has to go #2.  So we quick asked him if he wanted to try to go on the potty.  We went to the bathroom and he sat there and for the very first time he went #1 on the POT!  The big toilet with a cars seat on it.  He was SOOOOOOOOO proud of himself.  So we let him run around without his diaper on and we did have one accident after that but he did REALLY good for an hour!  I cried.  Cannot believe he is growing up so fast.  We did buy some big boy underwear, but I still think he has a LOOONG way to go and we are just not sure where to go from here now.  DEFINITELY do not want to force it...I will keep updating as it unfolds.  But we are going to transition him to his big boy toddler bed soon too.  He is ready to feel more like a "big boy" and I think he will really like it.  Updates coming soon on that one too!

So we were all in bed very early last night and we did have tons of stuff planned this week including a playdate here this morning, but of course, Liam is sick so the week will be spent in the house mostly.  :(  Have a great week everyone!

sidenote:  As I am typing Rowan is working very hard on her mat to go from her back to her belly!  She is so chunky, she gets stuck, but she was just completely on her side with her feet up high.  Of course I could not catch that but here is a little sneak peak of what is coming soon!  ;)

TGIF

What a LOOOOONG week!  This may be very short because as I type "no nap nancy" aka Rowan is waking up from what I thought would be her longest nap of the week.  Guess not!  She is sleeping well at night...well, 7 pm til about 1 and then til 6.  Feedings are super quick and then she is up for the day by 8.  But little miss does not want to nap!  Except for today when we need to be at the park...because it is 77 degrees on Jan. 20th!  Gotta love Texas weather!

I have been exhausted all week from some very long days so I have not done ANY running all week.  :/  With the weather so nice today I hope to get out tonite, but we shall see.  Tuesday night I had my evening meeting for our St. Francis MOMS group.  Always so enlightening.  Talked a lot about budgeting and organizing...oh, how I need a new organizational system in this house.  I used to be so on top of everything and since Rowan was born, I feel all over the place.  I also learned of a website e-mealz.com   I joined for 21 dollars for 3 months and it gives you all of your recipes for dinners and a shopping list for all of the ingredients...really cool!  I am going to start next week.  The only problem is, Rick tends to be a bit picky still, and some of the stuff I am not sure he will like--but we will try.

Last night we went out to RA Sushi for a Ann's bday and it was lots of fun.  It is so nice to get out with other moms and just chat.  And then Annie and I sat in her car and chatted for over an hour before I headed home.  She is such a sweet friend and I really value her opinion and experience about stuff.  I actually contacted her pediatrician today in hopes of getting Liam an appt. to see one of the drs. in the practice...they use a holistic approach to medicine which I think could be much better for both of my kiddos..I will do anything.  Long and short is, I am very worried about Liam (aren't I always worried about one of them!!!).  We found out his speech is 25% delayed and he also has a cognitive delay of 20%...that was a SHOCK!  I knew he was struggling with speech, but I thought he would do great in all other areas.  Motor skills are that of a 3 year old and I was not surprised at all about that one!  Anyway, he does qualify for services and we sign the paperwork on Thursday and they should begin the week of Feb 1st.  I just want to help him.  He is really frustrated at this point and hopefully they can give us some strategies to make it all a bit easier for him.  Hate to see him struggling.  I will post updates at they happen!  Hope it is all positive and that I can stop worrying so much!  He is a smart, sweet boy and I feel so lucky to have him!

So 2 bday parties tomorrow for our good friends Cole and Emmie.  And not too much else going on.  Pizza and beer tonite, which I LOVE!!!  ;)  Looking forward to a fun weekend.  No pics today because I am too lazy to get the camera, but they are both as cute as ever!  ;)  HAPPY FRIDAY!

FUN weekend!

Well except for Friday night when Rick decided to install a new hot water heater on his own.  into the attic right outside of the kids' rooms.  at bedtime.  As of Saturday morning we still had no hot water, but we were able to have hot baths by the middle of the day.  Aaaaaaand another cold bath this morning....oh, this hubby of mine!  So this could be a whole separate post, so I will stop now, but hopefully he will suck it up today and get a trained professional out here to fix whatever is going on.

Despite the hot water mishaps, it was a fabulous weekend with the family!!  Rowan slept 7 to 7 on Friday night with one short wake up 1 am, which got us started on a very RESTED note!  She is doing sooooo well in her crib!  We relaxed Sat. morning and then I headed out for a facial at 10:30.  It was one of my Christmas gifts.  Super relaxing hour of being pampered...other than the burn on my eyebrow from a wax, it was fabulous!  (my luck!)  ;)  Have a pretty little scab now, but whatever...

I headed home, fed Rowan and then set out for a long run in the BEAUTIFUL 65 degree weather...no wind made it even more awesome.  I did 2.9 miles!!!  And felt good.  Almost there!  Liam woke up from his nap---well, he skipped a nap, but played nicely in his crib for over an hour---when I got home and Rick gave Rowan a bath while Liam and I went outside to play ball.  Love those special times with my little man.  We spent about 45 minutes in the front yard..it was great!  Then it was Liam and mommy's turn for a bath.  At 4:45 we went to church.  Both kids did GREAT!  Rowan hung out in her carseat for a bit, then on dada's shoulder, then in the bjorn.  Liam colored and acted out blues clues...of course he talks up a storm in church (what we are promoting at home!) and does not really get the whole whisper thing, but, regardless, he did soooo good!

After church, we came home, put the kiddos in their jammies, Liam ate dinner, I fed Rowan a little bit, and then mommy and daddy had a glass of wine while we waited for bedtime.  7 pm Liam was out--he was exhausted from no nap and Rowan was out by 7:15!  Now that she is sleeping more at night, naps are few and far between during the day, so she is so tired when bedtime rolls around...but, how great for it to work out like this because Vicki got to our house around 7:20 and Rick and I left to make our 8 pm reservation at Seasons 52...let me just say, this was the most relaxed I have been in 2 years and I enjoyed every minute with Rick and every bit of the food and drinks.  We each had a glass of wine and I got the trout recommended by the waiter (DELISH!!!) and Rick got a filet you could cut with a butter knife.  The funny part of the night was when I made the reservation they asked of it was a special occasion and for some odd reason I said it was our anniversary???!  It was my birthday!  ha!  Shows you how my mind has been working as a mama of 2!  So we got a happy anniversary card given to us and everyone that came by kept saying happy anniversary.  It was quite hilarious, but we both went along with it!  It will be 5 years in June so I guess I wanted to make it a year long celebration!  ha!  We finished dinner and went to the Ginger Man for a yummy beer...they have so many and I got a vanilla stout--it was like dessert and sooo good!  We were home by 10:30 but I enjoyed every minute of that alone time with Rick AND eating without having to calm a crying baby or heat up cold food for a toddler!  We even watched the Sarah Jessica Parker movie, I don't know how she does it when we got home.  It was an okay movie, but a perfect night!!!

Sunday morning Rick and Liam went out to the grocery store to get some wings and dips for the Ravens game.  I went out for another run when they got home and then Britt came over to watch the Ravens game with us.  I was nice to spend time with her, a fellow Baltimore resident.  The kids were so well behaved.  Liam took a 3 hour nap and Rowan was awake most of the day--but so pleasant!  Little stinker does not like to miss out on anything!!!  Ravens won and Rick was very happy!  Britt was here till 5 and then we ate steaks on the grill and we were all in bed asleep by 9:30!  Here are some pics of Rick's good luck charms!
Such cuties!  This week and weekend brings more fun!  Tomorrow night is my MOMS monthly meeting for my church group.  Thursday night out for a friend's bday!  And Saturday 2 bday parties for good friends of Liam.  Can't wait!  I think a lot of cool peeps were born in January or something!  ;)

Have a fabulous week all!

Love this tushie!  And the rolls!  And the soft skin!  And everything about this little face and body!
I had wayyyyy too much fun doing this!  We need a better camera and I need a better beckdrop than the bathroom floor, but they were still adorable.

And here is my poor teething girl...hands are constantly in the mouth and she keeps pushing her tongue on her gums.  :(

Elmo trying to steal my wine!  ;)
my big girl's fave new spot!
I went for a quick, very relaxing run when Rick got home from work.
He brought cupcakes home for me and after, we had yummy tacos and sang happy birthday.  It was so cute because we think Liam thought it was his birthday again!  ha!  But he was a great help blowing out the candles!
trying to dig in early!  ;)
LOVED it!  sooooo cute!
GREAT day and I still get one more weekend to celebrate with the hubs!  YAY!!!

Rowan is 3 months old!

What a fun weekend!  Friday night we relaxed and had some pizza.  LOVE pizza Fridays!!!  Especially with a few beers!  ;)
Saturday was the 7th and Rowan is now 3 months old!!  Cannot believe how fast time is FLYING!  She rolled from her belly to her back during tummy time on her 3 month bday!  Not sure if it was a fluke, but she did it none the less!  She is sleeping in her crib every night now.  (sniff, sniff)  Still going down between 9 and 10 and getting up at 3 or 4 and then about 7 for the day.  She is taking a lonnnnngg morning nap (see pic below) and smaller cat naps through the rest of the day.  Playtime includes her mat, bouncy seat and bumbo chair.  LOVED the bjorn!  Can be in there for an hour or longer and is an ANGEL!  She is liking her Sophie giraffe now.  We have not had to use many toys for her because she is pretty content just sitting up like a big girl in the corner of the couch and watching her big bro act out Blues Clues.  ;)  She LOVES watching the news.  She smiles so big and giggles.  We think you think they are talking to you.  It is sooo cute.  Yes, she is giggling now from time to time.  She still LOVES chit chatting in the morning...just stares and stares at me until I talk to her and then just smiles soooo big.  I.LOVE.IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  All 6 month clothes, size 3 diapers.  She is losing all of her hair.  :(  I thought maybe one of my babies could skip the bald thing. But it still looks super cute.  Think you may be teething because you are gnawing on my shoulder any chance you get and your hands are CONSTANTLY in your mouth!  LOVE HER SOOOO MUCH!
Saturday morning I did my first run to train for my first 5K in a LONG time on Feb. 18th.  I felt great!  Did 1.2 miles and lots of stretching.  Then, we headed to Dicks..all of us!...to get mommy some new sneakers for running.  They did not have my size so I ended up ordering them online (asics 2160--SO COMFY!) and got lots of clearance running gear so I can run in style of course!  ha!  But really, I got 200 dollars worth of stuff for 60!  Love bargains like that!  Under armour and all!  We left the mall and headed home for lunch and naps.  Mommy went shopping some more (for groceries but BY MYSELF!) during naps.  When I got home we cleaned a little, and then made some DELICIOUS T-bone steaks on the grill.  Liam even ate half of Ricks!  They were so good.  Tom Thumb--on sale all week and HIGHLY recommend them!  We went and bought 4 more to freeze yesterday!  ;)  Then a few glasses of wine and we watched Margin Call...Rick loved it..I guess it was okay.
Sunday morning I made a big breakfast and then we all went to Target to FINALLY print our pictures we had taken back in November!  We bought frames last weekend and just needed to fill them.  Such an amazing deal and they turned out beautiful!  We will use Liane Johnson Photography for many years to come!!!  Then we came home again for nap and lunch.  And during naptime, I went for another run. This time 1.6 miles.  I was a little sore starting out but felt great one lap into it (I am using the lake behind our house as my track!).  Then I came home and Rick went for a haircut.  I cooked Chicken parm for dinner and we ate early around 4:30...yes, like true old people.  And then headed to church at 6 to check out the Youth Led service.  The kids did great overall, but it was PACKED!  We thought it would be more geared to kids, but it was just a high school band that made it "youth led".  So we are going to try the 5 pm on Saturday next week.  It is tough to get out in the mornings these days because Liam sleeps til at least 8:30 and Rowan's schedule during the day is still so unpredictable.  We will see how it goes.
GREAT BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!!!

Today we are sitting here in our jammies.  It is raining out and I am loving every minute.  Tacos for dinner and daddy is bringing me home Sugar Queen Cupcakes!  :-)  AND, I still have another birthday weekend next weekend...a facial on Sat at 10:45 and reservations at Seasons 52 at 8 pm on Saturday!  PERFECT!!!  And soooo blessed!

HAPPY MONDAY TO ALL!

Did some exercising this afternoon....

I started wondering if my sweetie really could lift her head or not.  She sleeps on her belly and is always searching for her hands (teething???) and just moves it side to side with her face smushed in the blanket.  I knew she was strong, but I was a little nervous that she was actually unable to lift it.  Well, man, was I wrong!!  With a little nudge, tada!
So proud of my strong girl but I just cannot believe how quickly you are growing up.  Still no interest in rolling over, but we will keep "practicing".  You are also balding this week..like a lot.  Big strip in the back of your head that is sooooo cute!

My Snow Bunny

Rowan you are such a chatterbox these days.  You have been sleeping in your crib for 2 nights.  First night went GREAT and last night you decided you wanted no parts of it.  We will try again tonight!  Your face lights up any time I smile at you.  You all of the sudden are only fitting into 6 month clothes--getting sooo big!  But your feetsies are sooooo small!  You have to wear newborn socks and they still fall off.  Talk about two extremes in one family!!!  ha!  Love, love watching your big bro and the butterflies on your playmat.  Love you to pieces!

Liam and his BFF singing

Who is this BFF you ask?  Why thay would be Steve from Blues Clues of course.  He wants to BE him.  Acts out the entire movies on a daily basis.  And carries a notebook everywhere.  AND stops to take notes.  Love this kid.  A sample below...

Clapping it out with Steve
On his potty...the new thinking chair maybe???
Same exact move Steve is doing on tv!
And the same arm gestures...apparently a very serious part
And the finale.  Liam, you are a trip!  love you dearly sweet boy

NYE

Unfortunately, Liam came down with a fever on Thursday and was still not himself by Saturday so we had to miss a fun party with some friends.  We did improvise and had a great family night though!  Originally, we were going to go out to a fun dinner as a family.  Then, I went to the store yesterday morning and bought entirely too much food, so we decided to take Liam out to eat and we would have some drinks.  YIKES!  Is that bad???  Maybe, but fun!  We decided on Matititos for so many reasons...sooooo close to home!, we could sit outside and it was GORGEOUS weather yesterday, we all love chips and salsa (even Liam) and mommy is having quite an obsession with mexican these days!
Soo, mommy and Liam went grocery shopping in the morning.  Then, mommy and Rowan returned some Christmas gifts to Kohls in the afternoon, and napped we relaxed most of the afternoon.  Around 4:30 we headed out.  Rowan had not slept much at all, so she actually was sound asleep the whole time and it was wonderful to have some special time with our little buddy.  We all munched on chips and salsa and Liam even had a "mexican grilled cheese" (HA!), fries, and broccoli.  AND, ice cream for dessert.  Since we were outside, he was able to run around a bit on the patio, which he loved and threw some money in the fountain.  When we were leaving around 6:15, the lights were on in the square and it was such a festive, fun feeling!  Here are some pics from our adventure (which going out to dinner with two now IS an adventure...which is also why I had my first margarita in A LOOOONG time!)
Loving his salsa!  He did get a "hot piece" and we did not mean to laugh, but he was not quite sure what to do with himself until he chugged some water.  ;)
Acting out Blues Clues with is notebook-HA!  Too cute!
Love my little man!
and my big man!!  ;)

does this get any more precious???  LOVE HER!!

We headed home then to have some more family fun.  Mommy put out the "adult dinner"...sushi, a cheeseball, chips, cracker, veggies and dip, meatballs, and wings.  It was all very yummy!  We just picked all night..I love doing that!  And we all shared the headbands and silly string I bought earlier in the day.  Liam HATED the headband.  ;)
But absolutely LOVED the horns and the silly string!  We had a dance party too!  Soooo much fun~
Liam went night-night at 8:30, but some other little munchkin decide she wanted to wait til 11:55!  Crazy girl does not like to miss ANYTHING!  She is usually always down now by 9:30 but on both Christmas Eve and NYE she wanted no parts of bed.  Too funny.  Of course we loved the time with her, but we were also happy she decided to go down right before the new year!
HA!  We tried...but she does look like she is saying, "no way dad".  We just love her to death!

So, New Years morning came fast.  We toasted the New Year and then tried to watch The Help...that lasted about 12 minutes.  Rowan was up at 3 and 6 and then 8 for the day...hence, she went down for a nap at 11:30 and is STILL sleeping after waking once to eat.  It is now 4 and she is starting to stir.  Relaxed all morning and afternoon, finished watching The Help (which I LOVED!!!!) and just put out some snacks and poured a glass of wine.  For dinner, we are having steak, lobster, mac and cheese, balsamic grilled veggies (by Market Street of course!) and crescent rolls.  Can't wait!  We plan to put Rowan in her crib for the first time in a LOOOONG time tonite.  Do not think I will be sleeping much this week, but we know we have to do it.  :(  Mommy will miss my sweet girl.  But I know Rick will be happy to have his real bed back.  ;)  And I guess me.
Happy 2012~looking forward to a great year!
